Our Mission

To enrich lives through visual arts

Anchor 1

As a 501c3 organization, we focus on creating an inclusive environment for our students and enhancing the community around us.  Our mission is fulfilled through Senior Outreach and Community Art Reach programs.

Kaleidoscope's vision continues to develop individuals' exploration through enrichment, inspiration, fulfillment, confidence, and expression. Our teachers provide comfortable and inviting classes for all artistic levels. Our school is designed for smaller class sizes to ensure students have the opportunity for one-on-one assistance in reaching their creative goals.

Our Studio

Located in a quaint farmhouse in downtown Barrington, Kaleidoscope has been a staple of the Barrington community for almost 40 years. Our school offers three levels of classrooms- from cartooning and mosaic on the second floor, to painting and drawing on the main floor, and a clay studio in the basement, Kaleidoscope is your home for art in Barrington

Our History

Kaleidoscope School of Fine Art was founded by Jill Funk in 1986 after studying Fine Art at the Cleveland Institute. After graduation, Jill and her late husband, Dan, started teaching sculpting classes at home. Together, they decided to open up a school in downtown Barrington that offered artistic diversity to the community.   Many years later, the school was re-imagined as a non-profit organization, so the school could continue her legacy for years to come.

For the past 16 years, Kaleidoscope has been located in downtown Barrington, teaching generations of Barrington families. Although our teachers come from different backgrounds in art, they all strive to maintain the inviting learning environment that Jill established so many years ago. Even into her nineties, Jill continues to work towards Kaleidoscope's mission to enrich lives as she still teaches a private class once a week.
