Water colors are paints that are water soluble and are typically used on paper. The effects created from this medium are usually transparent, and also opaque depending on the amount of water and technique used.
Drawing techniques start with development of observational skills an employ a wide range of drawing media including charcoal, graphite, and ink. Students in these course will develop both technical abilities and creative responses to material and subject matter. The focus for these classes would be realism.
A mosaic uses a technique that uses tiny parts to create a whole image. Mosaics are usually assembled using small tiles that are made of glass, stone, or other materials.
Unique and interesting, mixed media art uses a variety of mediums. Mixed media is an artwork in which more than one medium or material has been employed. Different projects will make use of different materials including cloth, paper, pastels, ink, wood, found objects, etc.
This class will introduce students to building with clay. Emphasis will be placed on the design elements; line, shape, texture, and color. Focus will be on the hand building techniques; pinch, coil and slabs. Students will be introduced to the craft of wheel thrown pottery on a limited basis.
